GM LS LQ series Billet “Alternator Only” Bracket and Adjustable Idler system, CNC Machined in the USA from 6061 aircraft grade aluminum. The TYPE 2 brackets are 1.5" shorter and work with truck balancer spacing only.
This bracket allows you to mount your alternator on the driver’s side of the motor and gives you the choice of using the 105 amp LS1 F-Body alternator or running the cheaper, more powerful 145 amp truck alternator!
It will work with any LS Block, because everything bolts to the cylinder head. This includes LQ4, LQ9, LS1, LS2, LS3, LSX, and more.
Our bracket places the alternator below an LS1 style intake — lower than any other bracket available! The included idler pulley increases belt wrap on both the crank pulley and alternator pulley, and guarantees you won’t sling a belt off.
With this type 2 bracket, the distance from the engine center-line to the outside of the alternator is only 14.5”. Designed to clear the control arms in the 2nd Gen. Camaro and fit 62-67 Chevy Nova's.
This setup retains the factory active tensioner. It can also be used to drive the alternator directly off the crank if using an electric water pump. The idler block can be used as a tensioner!
You only need to supply the 68.5" 6-rib belt (1740mm, Advance Auto part number 685K6 or 6PK1740).
If you are using an electric water pump, the belt you will need is a Dayco 5060495 (49.5")
If you are running an undersized balancer, you will need a shorter belt than listed.
